The Arcane Legacy | Gothic-Medieval Tarot Deck
Reviving ancient symbolism through bespoke dark-fantasy illustration.

The Project This personal project involved the conceptualization and design of a complete tarot deck, inspired by the intricate aesthetics of medieval manuscripts and the dark atmosphere of Gothic art. The challenge was to reinterpret traditional esotericism through a modern, cinematic lens while maintaining the deep-rooted symbolism of each card.

The Strategy I developed a unique illustrative style based on high-contrast ink techniques and fine-line detailing. Every card was treated as an individual piece of art, requiring extensive research into medieval iconography, heraldry, and occult architecture. The result is a deck that feels both historical and timeless, designed for a premium tactile experience.

Key Creative Features:

Bespoke Illustration: Creation of 78 original illustrations with a focus on anatomy, drapery, and symbolic composition.

Atmospheric Visual Identity: Development of a moody, monochromatic palette with subtle aged-parchment textures to enhance the "relic" feel.

Typographic Customization: Selection and adaptation of Gothic-inspired typefaces to ensure legibility while reinforcing the medieval theme.

Product Vision: Designing the card backs and packaging concepts, prioritizing a luxury feel suitable for high-end collectors or boutique publishing.
